Indonesia-based mobile telecommunications services operator PT XL Axiata Tbk said that the total number of subscribers recorded an increase to 56.77 million in the second quarter of 2021, from the previous 56.02 million in the first quarter.
XL managed to increase the total number of BTS to 156,709 units, or up 12% on an annual basis.
According to XL Axiata President Director & CEO Dian Siswarini, the number of 4G BTS rose to 65,658, from 49,744 in the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, 4G-served areas reach a total of 458 cities/districts. Improving the quality and coverage of the XL Axiata network has succeeded in driving an increase in data usage traffic.
Meanwhile, XL Axiata reported that it has returned to growth in the second quarter of 2021. XL Axiata's total revenue increased by 8 percent quarter-on-quarter to IDR 6.73 trillion. EBITDA also grew by 8 percent quarter-on-quarter, with a margin of more than 50 percent.
In the second quarter, the company recorded a net profit of IDR 395 billion or an increase of 23 percent, while contributing to the total net profit of the first half of this year of IDR 716 billion.
Dian Siswarini said, "In the midst of the pandemic and a challenging industry competition throughout the second quarter of 2021, we have managed to improve our business performance with growth across all financial metrics. This positive achievement is due to the strong sales and the increase in traffic that we achieved during the last Eid period."

We also offer the right products according to customer needs by optimizing the use of data analytics to do upselling through our omnichannel sales channels,” Dian added.
